TRA 2018 What to expect!

In less than four weeks the seventh edition of Transport Research Arena will take place in Vienna. From 16 to 19 April more than 3.000 experts, scientists, politicians, operators and representatives from economics and industry will discuss current and future challenges of transport and mobility. Along this year's motto "A digital era for transport: solutions for society, economy and environment" the largest European transport research conference will take a closer look at the impact of digitalisation on the transport and mobility sector.

About TRA 2018:
TRA2018 is organised by the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology, together with the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and AustriaTech, with the support of the European Commission and the largest European Technology Platforms, including ECTP.

Therefore, the more than 600 sessions will cover a wide range of topics: 

  • environment and energy efficiency
  • rail transport & shipping
  • alternative propulsion systems
  • smart urban mobility & logistics
  • passenger mobility (systems and services)
  • freight transport and logistics
  • transport infrastructure
  • networked and automated mobility
  • digital technologies
  • safe and robust transport systems
  • the human dimension in transport
  • socio-economics
  • innovation and politics.

For the first time, the so-called Interactive Zone with more than 30 indoor and outdoor demonstrations as well as live showcases and presentations will enable visitors to experience the future of mobility at first hand. The conference is aimed at all companies, organisations and start-ups dedicated to topics such as automation, networking, emission reduction, multimodal transport, traffic safety or logistics or freight transport of the future.
